Abstract

This study aims to develop a territory model for Healthy and Humane Pedestrians in Urban Commercial Areas (HHPUCA), which in Indonesian is called "Pekakomes". The method used includes behavioral mapping techniques, physical trace observations, and interviews. The observations made include the assessment of location, photos, and video documentation, as well as the survey of pedestrian lane users at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. Reading tools or analytical frame works were used for the compilation of data, and the two models utilized were Pekakomes and Combination Pekakomes. The Pekakomes is an elongated lane territory on the side of the road in a multi-functional urban commercial area, developed for pedestrians, traders, and parking activities, with a positive impact as well as supporting the users' health. The Combination Pekakomes is similar to the Pekakomes, and the difference is in the function zone and the size of the lane width. The findings have practical implications that are relevant to the existing and urban commercial areas in other developing countries, in the implementation of a suitable pedestrian lane model.
