Finding the Compression Curve (Compaction) for WASIT Governorate Soils

Abstract

Soil samples were collected from several sites in Wasit Governorate with different textures, some of which are light texture, medium texture, and heavy texture. They were brought from the surface layer of soil 0-30 cm from agricultural fields planted with grains crops and other crops to study the compression curve and determine the compressibility of those soils through study the change in bulk density with the change in moisture content during compression process. A second-degree statistical relationship was found between the soil bulk density and its moisture content for all the samples of the studied sites through the values of the determination coefficient R2, which its values ranged from 0.772 - 0.938.
