Optimal Allocation of Distributed Generation using SALP Swarm Algorithm

Abstract

This paper presents a novel technique for optimal allocation of distributed generation (DG) to decrease the active power loss (PL).Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA) is a kind of swarm intelligence optimization algorithm inspired by the swarming behavior of salp in the deep ocean. The proposed algorithm is applied and tested by using IEEE 33-bus radial distribution system and IEEE-69 bus radial distribution system. It is a meta-heuristic algorithm that has attracted many researchers due to its advantages such as simplicity, few parameters, and derivation-free mechanism. The obtained simulation results and comparison of different cases considered reveal that allocation of DG results in loss reduction with a good voltage profile.
