Abstract

Earthquakes have resulted in the deaths of more people and any other natural hazards in India. 59% of lands and 79% of population (1.076billion) are at moderate to severe earthquake risk. The country has imminent risk of great earthquakes in Himalaya’s addition to interpolate events. In india, most of the buildings in rural and urban areas are constructed through the pure masonry structure. At present, retrofitting is a method of providing eternal strength to a building under lateral loads.Analysis of the structure is done by using equivalent static method and modelling is carried out using ETABS-2016 software. In the view of solutions, the building needs retrofit of walls and jacketing of existing brick columns. The increase in lateral strength of the building is achieved by RC jacketing of the existing walls and columns. The strengthening of partition wall has been proposed to be performed RC jacket, by means of shot-create in M30 grade of concrete, adequately connected to wall, floor, and roof slab. This research project encompasses findings on detailed investigation, numerical analysis of the building for seismic evaluation and reanalysis with different strengthening measures, methodology of strengthening, and technical specification of materials for building model. The parameters such as maximum story displacement, maximum story drift are calculated in this technical paper. We foused on how to make masonry structure better as RC frame structure through retrofitting using RC jaketting system.
