Abstract

A construction joint is the surface that match two parts of concrete pouring at different times. At these surfaces, a bond should be ensured and reinforcement must be continuous as defined in ACI 318-19 [1]. Studies on the effect of construction joints on beam strength, flexure capacity, rupture modulus, and failure mode depending on the kind and location of the construction joints, as well as other factors such concrete compressive strength, have been done. Some of these are discussed in this publication.
