A Novel Model for Aligning Online Teaching-Learning and Evaluation With Bloom’s Taxonomy

Abstract

The world is witnessing an eLearning boom, and it is the most discussed subject nowadays. In this COVID-19 pandemic situation, schools, colleges, educational institutions, across the world, have changed from the conventional mode of teaching, which is a blackboard and choke, to online teaching and learning platforms for continuing the teaching-learning process. It has changed the traditional physical classroom method of education overnight. Before 2020, there were digital learning options offered by different universities and educational institutions. But in most of the cases, it was offered to seek the attention of part-time and foreign students, who prefer flexible learning set up. But now in 2020, the education sector is completely dependent on digital learning. Education is one important sector that has been slow to adopt new technologies. But COVID-19 undeniably represents a critical turning point in the field of education. It allows students to learn individually and at their own pace, which is a good feature. One disadvantage is that students can find it difficult to communicate and benefit from one another's contributions. The learners who require additional support, like a slow learner, are also under question in this digital education. One of the most important concerns is in the evaluation part. The teaching part will not be a problem in online mode, but the learning part and its evaluation are of major concern. As an educator, the most important questions that I am facing nowadays are, how to cover the Bloom’s Taxonomy in this online teaching and learning effectively? And how to evaluate the Bloom’s Taxonomy in this online teaching and learning effectively? In this paper, I am trying to explore a hybrid model that can be followed in any kind of online teaching and learning. It is attractive for both instructors and students. It is on the basis of my personal experience that I have followed in one of my courses for undergraduate students. Through this model, I could able to evaluate the students and their attainment level properly.
