Abstract

-   Tool wear is the major issue cause during machining process. Proper coated tool material helps to reduce the cutting tool wear significantly. Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX) is used to find the true composition of the material which is been coated upon the cutting tool. The selection of the cutting tool to be machined is depending upon the type of material we use to perform the machining operation. In the present study AlTiN, Diamond like Carbon (DLC) and Hard Carbon PVD coatings are done on uncoated carbide inserts to machine Aluminium alloy material. Elemental composition of coatings is studied using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX).
