The Impact of COVID-19 on E-Commerce in India

Abstract

The pandemic Covid-19 has affected almost all the sectors of the economy in different ways. The impact on the e commerce platforms has been very significant. Lockdown restrictions imposed in the country coupled with fear of stepping out  opened golden gates for this sector. The e commerce platforms emerged as the most preferred channel for selling as well as buying. However, the industry has to tread very cautiously so as to gain customer confidence and retain the customers even in the post Covid times by offering a hassle free, safe, hygienic and comfortable path for shopping. This paper studies about the evolution and growth of e commerce industry in India and analyses the opportunities and challenges for this industry in India especially in light of the pandemic.
