Research on Hexahedral Mesh Generation of Complex Geological Body
Abstract
The simulation accuracy of a geological model strongly depends on the relevant rock properties and their distribution in space. Due to complexities in both the geological modeling and subsurface simulation, an accurate method of modeling the geology of the subsurface is not available in many cases. An efficient hexahedral mesh generation method is proposed which is based on Inside-Out Grid method and provides for mesh refinement algorithm based on surface curvature criterion, local ultrathin criterion and compatibility transition criterion to refine meshes. The method of Laplace smoothing is introduced to optimize the mesh to overcome the defect of poor quality of the mesh and meet the requirements of engineering geological analysis. A good mesh quality evaluation of the hexahedral mesh model generated is shown by this method.
