Abstract

In most of the process industries level of liquid is controlled and different chemical mixtures are maintained to form an end product. This paper proposes the design of the Internal Model Controller (IMC) - Proportional Integral (PI) Controller for Three tank interacting level process with a first order plus dead time. In TITO process two separate IMC-PI gain values are acquired and decoupled using the decoupler matrix by determining RHP poles and zeros. The robustness of the IMC controller has demonstrated in Time Domain Specifications (TDS) and compared with conventional PI Controller. The IMC-PI controller eliminates the peak overshoot in both interacting tanks and produces better settling time and rise time than PI controller.
