Abstract

Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is one of the most widely used scientific methodologies of decision support that intends to improve the quality of decisions by helping decision makers to make rational decisions that concordant with their preferences. In this paper, an alternative of a hybrid method based on Saaty’s Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and on the Technique for Order Preference by using Solution method (AHP-VIKOR) and, based on the AHP and its use of pairwise comparisons, to extend it to a new method called β-D MCDM-VIKOR (β-Discounting Method for multi-criteria decision making-VIKOR). The new method overcomes the limits of AHP, which works only for pairwise comparisons of criteria, to any-wise (n-wise) comparisons, with crisp coefficients or with interval valued coefficients. An extended MCMD method (called Extended β-D MCDM) of β-DMCDM, introduced by Smarandache to solve decision making problems, is developed. β-D MCDM-VIKOR and Extended β-D MCDM are verified on example, to demonstrate how they work consistence together.
