Abstract

In this research, the results were displayed on sustainable nanomaterials mixtures containing nano paper waste and nano metakaolin as a substitute for the Portland cement in this research. The Portland cement was replaced with varied ratios of nano paper waste and nano metakaolin such as (0%, 4%,8%, and 12 % by weight of cement), and The cement-to-water ratio was constant in all mortar mixes (W/C= 0.4).The results of compressive strength at 7 and 28 days and flexural strength at 28 days show that the nanomaterial's positively affected the strength, and the results of  nano- metakaolin were higher than that of nano paper waste, and therefore the best replacement rates were 8%, followed by 4%, and finally 12% for both materials. On the other hand, nano metakaolin with nano paper waste together at replacement by (12% NMK + 12% NPW) showed less shrinkage than others and this is due to the high pozzolanic reactivity of nanomaterials. The combination of  nano metakaolin and nano paper waste improved the microstructure by increasing hydration volume and lowering the water in the cement matrix and this is clear in C-S-H decomposition.
