Evaluation of Critical Factors Impacting the Sustainable Manpower Allocation in Construction Projects

Abstract

In the present construction world, bridging sustainability is the ultimate phenomenon in order to focus the development and growth in economy with profit. Sustainable manpower allocation in construction projects is the key to achieve the organizational goals in a successive way. Sustainability in construction manpower allocation is significantly impacted by improper workforce planning, lack of training environment and conflict issues. This study aims to identify and analyze the critical factors impacting the sustainable manpower allocation in construction projects. 288 questionnaire data samples were analyzed in this paper by using Relative Importance Index method, Box plots analysis and Independent Samples Kruskal- Wallis test. The results reveal that the range of impact and significance of critical factors influencing sustainable construction manpower allocation. The study concludes that the improper positioning of workers and hiring unqualified workers are the most dominant factors influencing sustainable manpower allocation in construction projects. By enhancing “the priority based manpower allocation process, mobilization in work assignment practices and workers’ performance efficiency” will improve the sustainability in construction manpower allocation and also will reduce the construction professionals’ job stress.
