Abstract

In this study, the effect of using a solid drying column to reduce heat load on the cooling coil was studied by manufacturing an air dryer (removing moisture from the air) using silica gel granules. The diameter of the entry hole is 6 inches, and the dimensions of the drying unit, which are cube-shaped, are: 30 cm in length, 30 cm in width and 30 cm in height. The material used inside the drying unit is silica granules, which are blue in color and were used for level (20 cm) of the drying unit. The process was carried out under the influence of three variables: temperature, moisture content and flow rate. The results showed that when the amount of silica is 20 cm from the drying unit it is the best to reduce the heat load by reducing the latent load inside the drying unit and then pass it to the cooling unit.
