Integrated Automatic Flood Warning and Alert System Using Internet of Things

Abstract

Floods are cataclysmic that lead to massive destruction to humankind, crops, lands, etc. In order to prevent such annihilations, we have planned to make an alerting system. Since floods are colossal that tends to obliterate everything, a precautionary measure is of utmost importance. It can potentially decrease the devastating impact leading to a safer environment. Our paper is an experimental analysis to prevent destruction caused to humankind by floods. This can be done by integrating automatic flood warning and alert systems using the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is used widely to couple all potential objects to interact with each other through the internet. The versatility of IoT makes it useful for disaster management because the IoT enabled technologies are beneficial in terms of surveilling, tracing, controlling and sensing the environment using real time data. Thus integrating flood warning and alerting systems would minimize the deaths and destructions caused by a natural calamity like flood.
