Abstract

Entrepreneurship has remained the top priorities for any economy in the world. There are several competitive advantages offered through the same, however, various international reports reveal that the role of women in entrepreneurship is quite less. It is even lesser for developing economies like India as compared to the developed nations like US. According to Statista Report (2021), the percentage of women entrepreneur for micro, small and medium enterprises is 20.44%, 5.26% and 2.26% respectively in India. In other words, 20.37% women are entrepreneurs in India at present. Rest 79.67% entrepreneurs are men. The United Nations introduced Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under Vision 2030 (UN 2015). One of the primary goals is gender equality. The present study identifies the major factors influencing the women entrepreneurship in India, examines the challenges and explores the opportunities in the digitally transformed business world. The social, psychological, educational, economic, family and other factors are taken into account. The study is significant as it deals with employment generation, financial inclusion, women empowerment, societal balance, gender equality and sustainable community development. The study is a descriptive empirical research project. Primary and secondary data have been collected for the study. Total 190 female entrepreneurs were chosen based on the five most popular entrepreneurial activities. Frequency, %, Kendall Rank Correlation and Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient test (Alfred Brophy 1986) have been used to analyse the data. We may conclude that the expansion of women's entrepreneurship has resulted in the creation of long-term job opportunities for women in society.
