Improvement of Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Resisitance of Ti6Al4V by tantalum a ddition
Abstract
The improvement of Ti6Al4V alloy in bio application is the aim of the present investigation , by Ta addition in different proportions (0.5,1,1.5,2% wt) and study chemical properties , ion release and dry wear behavior for Ti-6Al-4V-XTa alloys compared to base alloy in terms of biocompatibility that used in human body. Two solutions, were, utilized, (artificial ,saliva, and hank's, solution), in this investigation. The resistant against corrosion of Ti-6Al-4V,-XTa implant alloy and Ti-6Al-4V base alloy was measured at 37 degrees Celsius utilizing electrochemical methods including the potentiodynamic technique and open circuit potential (OCP). Immersed samples in two solutions for three weeks at 37 degrees Celsius released metallic ions from Ti-6Al-4V-XTa and Ti-6Al-4V base alloy. In two biological solutions, the Ti-6Al-4V-XTa implantation alloys showed excellent performance when comparison with Ti6Al4V base alloy, according to the findings of the experimental part. Contact angle for base alloy with addition Ta became compared with base alloy more wettability and promotes more osseointegration .
