Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of partial replacement of cement by alccofine1203 on the mechanical properties of concrete. Although the number of experimental studies on partial replacement of cement by mineral admixture has increased in recent decades, it is still lower than the number of such studies related to the conventional concrete. Alccofine 1203 is a slag based supplementary cementitious materials. In this paper 24 cubes specimens of size 150mm X 150mm X 150mm, 24 prism specimens of size 100mm X 100mm X 500mm were cast by different percentage of alccofine 1203 such as 0%, 12%, 14% and 16% respectively. M20 grade of concrete mix is designed and specimens were cast withdifferent percentage of alccofine. The mechanical properties studied here are compressive strength on concrete cube specimens and flexural strength of concrete prism specimens at 7 and 28 days of water curing. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis are carried out the materials of concrete like cement, alccofine and also 28 days of conventional concrete and alccofine 14% replaced by cement. Finally results from the compressive and flexural strength of concrete specimens are 14% of alccofine material to attain increases the strength. SEM analysis show the alccofine 14% replaced concrete is denser when compared to the conventional concrete.
