Abstract

Advancement in industrialization leaves the parking management system outdated. Traffic condition in foreign countries is homogeneous whereas India’s traffic condition is heterogeneous which makes real-time management at parking lot difficult. Traffic congestion at parking occurs more often and people cannot even find a place to park their vehicle.  To overcome these difficulties, an IoT based Car Parking Management System (ICPMS) is developed in this study. This system uses a new cloud server which is termed as Cloud Based Car Parking Server (CBCPS) this avoids unnecessary congestion in the server other than parking. At first, the user selects the car parking area close to his/her destination. When the ICPMS system receives the user request, it will trigger the camera to capture the image of the parking areas immediately. In order to save the power and memory storage, the ICPMS system activates the camera only when it is required. An efficient image processing technique is applied to find the available car parking area using the captured image. The ICPMS system will send the information to the user if car parking slot is available. The ICPMS system not only finds the available car parking as per user request but also provides the nearby available car parking area selected by the user. The location of the car is tracked by GPS. Also, The ICPMS provides the information about the available parking to the user for every 5 minutes until he/she parked his/her vehicle.
