Abstract

Fiber reinforced composites are the durable, light weight, cost effective materials which are rapidly gaining attention from the various fields of commercial as well domestic applications. These composites are frequently replacing the conventional resources as they shows synergistic improved properties, other than this, these composites are environmental and the pocket friendly as well. The combination of two dominant components results into the improved combination with all of its synergy which surely opens the new ways in the field of research. The composite of the epoxy resin reinforced by the glass fiber has a lot of potential with in it. The Glass fiber is heavy duty strong synthetic fiber consisted chiefly of the oxides of silica which provides it the tremendous strength to perform the extraordinary functions while the Epoxy resin is known for its excellent adhesion property. The objective of the preparation of the composites by having Glass fiber and Epoxy resin as the ingredients is to prepare an extraordinary combination to open the new doors in the field of research. The two laminates of glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites i.e. GFREC-5 and GFREC-6 were prepared by using compression molding and its Tensile strength, flexural modulus and Flexural stress were determined. The improvement in the respective mechanical properties has been reported as the thickness of the sample increased.
