Abstract

The rapid growth in human civilization comes with a more advanced transportation system across the world, metro transportation system is one of that. It is becoming the requirement in developed cities as well as in the urban areas where the population is high. In India, many states has the metro stations and many is building this transportation facility. Madhya Pradesh is one of them. In the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal it is in phase I where a metro is about to start, the construction is completed any time soon. The different component of a metro system includes pier, girder, pier cap, foundation etc. The elevated metro system has two broadly divided components- super structure and sub- structure. In this research paper, the study of the main element of the elevated metro is studied i.e. Girder(Super structure of viaduct). The typical design of the 24 span of the metro rail viaduct with substructure, as well as the purpose of the pretension Girder have been taken out and demonstrated in this article to realize the structural behavior of the metro rail viaduct. The parameters used to demonstrate the behavior of girder is span length, radius of curvature, and their ratio along with fundamental frequency, shear, torsion, moment, deflection and longitudinal stress.
