Abstract

The trend of using civic amenities through 4G smart phones is gaining mass approval these days. People of all age groups and socio-economic strata readily utilize e-services for bill payments, making complaints, availing health services, ticket booking, downloading desired information and so on. But, out of the whole gamut of civic amenities available via designated mobile applications; just a few are quite popular whereas others are nominally known for different reasons. The present study aims at comparing users‟ awareness about availability of civic amenities via 4G smart phones.

The study carried awareness as independent besides water and electricity bill payment, educational management, public transport, e-healthcare management and e-wallet systems as dependent variables. A self-developed tool was administered upon 50 randomly selected users of civic amenities through 4G smart phones. The sample was subdivided on the basis of their age

The results depicted that the degrees of users‟ awareness about the listed civic amenities wasn‟t equal among the variables of the study. There is more awareness about electricity and water bill payments as well as e-wallets than health-care and educational management. Hence, there a grave need to aware users regarding availability of a variety of civic amenities through 4G smart phones.

i.e. below 25, between 25 and 50 as well as above 50 years, male-female and urban as well as rural users. The questionnaire carried 20 close ended items on a row of five gradually descending scales. The acquired data was analyzed on mean, standard deviation and t-test. Finally, the results were discussed as per the objectives of the study.
