Abstract

In the work, the corrosion behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy composites in NaCl solution was systematically investigated to determine the performance of SiC particulates reinforced with 2%, 3%, and 4 % weight fractions in AZ31.The influence of main essential phases of corrosion behavior was studied by Scanning Electron Microscope. The casted specimens of base alloy and composites were tested for pitting corrosion behavior using potentio dynamic polarization test. The effect of duration on the Corrosion Rate and the average corrosion rate for multiple years was calculated and reported.
