Abstract

Foamed aluminium is made by adding additives to pure aluminium or aluminium alloy through a foaming process, and has both metal and bubble characteristics. It possess low density, higher shock absorption ability, high temperature resistance, strong fire resistance, corrosion resistance, sound insulation and noise reduction, lesser thermal conductivity, high electromagnetic shielding, stronger weather resistance, filtering ability, easy processing, easierto install, and higher forming accuracy. This research work explicates the impact strength characterization of closed-cell aluminium foam (AL003860) formed with Al 6101 aluminium alloy exposedtowards cryogenic treatment. The obtained results are compared with the untreated foam samples. A series of trials were conducted and the average value has been considered for discussion. Interesting results was obtained from the tests.
