Abstract

Power losses is the most critical problem in distribution system to overcome the problem various optimization techniques used. In this paper BAT algorithm with forward backward load flow analysis are used. Reduction of power loss and improving voltage profile by placement of DG using BAT algorithm with forward backward sweep load flow analysis. The proposed method is IEEE-33 bus radial distribution system used as test system. The results justiy the choice of BAT algorithm with forward backward sweep load flow analysis in optimal placement of DG sources which improves the distribution system efficiency to a great extent in terms of reduced real and reactive power losses and improving voltage profile. Solutions obtained using BAT algorithm are compared with partical swarm optimization (PSO) solution for the same objective function. The results are verified in MATLAB software.
