The Urban Morphological Changes to the Built Environment of the City Center of Baghdad

Abstract

The rise of most important civilizations in the world near the rivers make it a center for many of the activities employed to find an urban area to be planned and designed for the city gate through which to identify the beneficiary of the tourism aspect, and recreational and educational.Based on the literature of urban development studies city structure elements represented in, thesystem of movement andland use, always trying to use the land closer to the river because of the significant role played by the physical environment in the life of the city. Thus, the paper problem is trying to study the urban morphological changes of the city center of Baghdad and its effect on the urban pattern of city structureelements in the built environment.So, the aim of the research "Clarify the impact of urban morphological changes on the urban pattern of city structure elements in the built environment of the city center of Baghdad". This study focuses on Rusafa historical center as one of the major area, situated in the heart of Baghdad city center. This paper is a qualitative in nature, using observation, analytical study and content analysis through historical documents. The results were processed according to amorphological study. The conclusions showed the importance of the city structure elements in changing the urban morphology pattern. Besides the diversity of the rates of impact for the main elements of city urban patterns on the morphological stages in which the measurement procedures were carried out.
