Abstract

The workforce diversity at the workplace is inevitable. Employee engagement is something which is a challenge for Human resource people to manage among diverse employees. The concept of Employee engagement was first given by Kahn, 1990.Since then researchers have continuously pushed their limits to explore it on different fronts and domains. But, so far, a mutual consent on what actually constitutes it has not been achieved. In diverse nation like India, this concept presents huge opportunities for researchers to explore it on different dimensions and domains.. The aim of this study is to develop and validate a scale that can be used to assess employee engagement (EE) and workforce diversity (WFD) among  teaching faculties  in Higher Educational Institutions (HEI’s). The finding of this study states that teaching faculties of HEI’s have significant impact of gender and ethnic diversity on the engagement factors while there is no impact of education background diversity on physical, cognitive, emotional & behavioral engagement. Even though experience diversity had shown significant impact on emotional and behavioral engagement. The study provides a scale which can be used for test –retest analysis for future studies on workforce diversity and employee engagement in any country. This study is of great help to researcher who want to explore impact of different factors of Workforce Diversity on the Employee Engagement factors in HEI’s.
