Abstract

The paper includes a comprehensive study on microgrid systems having three-phase SEIG (Self-Excited Induction Generator) with renewable energy sources (RES). Considering the recent trends of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, reducing transmission losses by adopting renewable sources for power generation in remote regions, SEIG can play a key role. The advantages of SEIG such as cost-effectiveness, ruggedness, low maintenance, etc. make it a better choice over synchronous generators. Therefore in this paper, a comprehensivestudy on three-phase SEIG in three-phase power generation using renewable energy sources is presented. The study covers different controller configurations, schemes, and their classification that have been usedfor maintaining power quality from three-phase SEIG.
