Abstract

This paper investigates the feasibility of applying 3D concrete printing technologies in Egyptian housing. In Egypt, a large percentage of housing projects rely on traditional construction technologies;these technologieshave many issues such as lack of productivity, high cost, poor quality, and time delay. Contributed companies todeveloping 3D concrete printing technologies claim that these technologies can solve the drawbacks of traditional technology. Therefore, this paper examines some of the precedents of 3d printing technologies around the world; to explore the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies. Finally, the paperpresentsan analysis of the impact of employing 3d concrete printing on a case study of Bedouin housing, one of Egypt's housing projects. The results indicate that the 3d concrete printing technologies can affect the projecttime and cost besidestheir impact on the environmental dimension of these projects. This studymay add to the knowledge of these technologies and the feasibility of applying them in the future.
