ANALYSIS OF CASE TEACHING METHOD IN UNIVERSITIES - AN ECONOMIC CASE STUDY IN PYROLYSIS PROJECT
Abstract
There are many methods and applications in improving quality of teaching in education sector in developing countries such as Vietnam, among them is case teaching method.
We will introduce an economic case study as an example in this study. Case study is a method and activity of in-depth study of a specific situation, thing or event, which is different from large-scale surveys and statistics. This method is used to narrow down the scope of the study.
Hence, This paper find out case teaching will open more chance for students and teachers discussion inside classrooms, and even in e-learning discussion via internet and forum. We recognize that storytelling is one of the most effective methods to apply case study to give information to learners and readers.
Last but not least, authors present how to conduct a typical economic case study via a pyrolysis project in Vietnam. We need to approach the case from overview and technology and socio-economic values then economic effectiveness of the project and answer case questions either in group or individual case write up.
