Abstract

Objectives: To find out the Intensity of Assertiveness and Altitude of Sociability of Prospective Teachers, and also to find out the Gender difference in these two variables. To unearth, whether, Assertiveness and Sociability are associated with their Personality Type as per Shelden’s Theory of Personality. To find out whether there is any significant relationship between Assertiveness and Sociability. Method: To accomplish these objectives, the investigator, selected 132 Prospective Teachers as sample who are studying B.Ed course in Private colleges by simple random sampling method. Since it is a Descriptive survey method of research, two separate Standardized Questionnaires were distributed to receive the response from the students of B.Ed during February-2020. The collected data were statistically analyzed by applying ‘t’ test, ‘Chi-Square’ and ‘Co-efficient of Correlation’. Findings: The result shows that, the Prospective Teachers have an average level of Assertiveness and Sociability. Findings reveal that, male Prospective Teachers are more Assertive than female. But both male and female have more or less equal level of Sociability. The results are similar to Sheldon’s view that Ectomorphic are Less-Assertive and less Sociable, Mesomorphic are Assertive and Endomorphic are Sociable. Innovation: William Herbert Sheldon done a research in 1940’s and found an association in human body type with their characters. There was (is) a conflict about this theory. This present study proved that, Sheldon’s theory is not completely contradictory to the reality. Almost it is suitable for most of the people, except few. So, this concept also can be applied to select any person for any important jobs along with other eligibility tests.
