Abstract

One of the most important objectives of Biomedical field is to identify the genetic factors of complex diseases. Identifying the biomarker gene, that is the gene associated with a genetic disorder or a gene mutation is important to lead a disease free life. The detection of disease-related genes advances the diagnosis and treatment strategy for the disease. Bioinformatics is the field of applying computational methods to understand the biological architecture of organisms. The Gene feature is the base behind any disease-gene prediction model. The Knowledge of disease-gene associations, protein-protein interactions, gene expression, phenotype-genotype associations and other gene features are more important to understand the disease mechanism and for biomedical applications (drug design). This paper reviews different Computational Model/Method/Framework applied for the prediction of disease gene.
