Abstract

Biometrics, which employs human behavioural characteristics for personal identification, has grown in popularity and promise as a viable alternative to traditional approaches. Because the vein pattern is hidden within the body, the risk of counterfeiting in veins is minimised when compared to fingerprints. Because of its uniqueness and stability, the retina is one of the most trustworthy biometric features. Furrows, ridges, crypts, rings, corona, and freckles, among other random and complicated formations, give the retina its distinct texture. Often retina is combined with other biometric features for robust biometric systems. The finger vein pattern acquired under infrared light is used to design an accurate personal authentication system. The method of personal identification based on vein extraction patterns from an undefined original image is repeatedly carried out and line tracking operations with arbitrarily varying start points are performed. This paper reviews various techniques introduced in left finger vein and right retina and right retina and left finger vein recognition system. This paper mainly focuses in introduction about finger vein and retina pattern, survey of existing research works done in the process under finger vein combined with retina recognition such as image acquisition, vein and retina enhancement, vein and retina pattern extraction and vein and retina pattern matching. Finally the challenges and future work are discussed in order to improve the left finger vein pattern with right retina and right finger vein pattern with left retina recognition.
