Abstract

Caesarean section (CS) is the commonest obstetric operative procedure worldwide. The aim of objective of this study is to identify socio- Demographic factors which have significant effect on the Caesarean section among women of Reproductive age in Ekiti State. For modelling purpose binary logistic regression was used and data were analyzed using EViews Version 9. The total number of women in reproductive age is based on 390 women in which 169(43.3%) accept caesarean section (CS) while 221(56.7%) did not accept caesarean section (CS). The majority of individuals were married (46.2%), followed by single (33.8%) but at their reproductive age. In the analyses, all the variables Age, educational level, marital status, occupation, religion, ethnicity (Tribe), annual income, were found to have significant influence the acceptance of Caesarean Section among Women of Reproductive Age in Ekiti State at significance level of 5%. A close examination of the regression equation shows that some variables such as marital status(MS), educational level (E), Occupation and Income(In) have positive relationship with the Caesarean section (CS). While some others such as age, religion and ethnicity(Ec) variables have a negative relationship with the CS.
