Abstract

The voltage profile of interconnected power systems is heavily dependent on reactive power variations. The power system loads are continually variable which leads to continuous variations in voltage. In general, most of the electric loads consume reactive power which lowers the voltages all over the network. The voltage variations can be maintained within the tolerable limit by providing necessary reactive power.

This paper focuses on the simulation and development of prototype laboratory working models of both SVC and TCSC and its coordination control, SVC and TCSC working models have been designed and fabricated in the laboratory.

TCSC and coordination control of both SVC and TCSC. In the first case the impact of SVC’s on system angle and voltage stability with open loop control and automatic control with microcontroller has been assessed. A coordination control is proposed for both TCSC and SVC which have been connected to the Single Machine Three Bus test system and test results have been presented
