Abstract

This paper presents design of a concentrated winding configuration of a 6/4 Switched Reluctance Motor to improve torque and efficiency. The objective of this paper is to analyze the torque and efficiency characteristics with different configuration of windings and their influence on total losses of SRM comparing it with Switched reluctance Motor no changes in winding structure. The static characteristics and the flux linkages for different winding configurations are analyzed by finite element method using ANYSYS software. Performance is analyzed at various speeds, efficiency and output power is compared. The total loss in Switched Reluctance Motor with Double layer winding is very less compared with the Single layer winding- Switched Reluctance Motor. The simulation results are presented to evaluate the performance of different concentrated winding configuration.
