Abstract

The smart card skimmer is a malicious device and hackers attach it to the payment terminals, most commonly at ATMs. When a user inserts the card into ATMs, the skimmer creates a copy of the ATM card and hackers capture the PIN by using secret cameras. The hackers then make a duplicate card and they can withdraw the amount from the account holders. To prevent all these malicious functions by the use of duplicate cards, we need to adopt a new technology with high security features. Biometric-based verification system has the capability of performing money transactions without using a card and PIN and therefore a fingerprint-based money transaction (FMT) system using random finger generation has been developed. First, the FMT system authenticates the user by using the user's right thumb which displays the user information on the screen. When the user wants to carry out a money transaction, system generates a finger randomly. After entering the randomly generated finger, the system checks the user database and completes the transaction. In other case, system cancels the total process and waits for the right thumb of the user to authenticate. FMT algorithm is faster, reliable, accurate and highly secured over the traditional methods. This Biometric Digital Transaction method takes less computational time while performing digital transactions. The most important and significant benefit of FMT system is that there is no need to carry smart cards, ATM cards and also the user need not remember PIN numbers.
