Abstract

Automatic circle recognition is becoming a critical component of image processing algorithms. The circle detection plays an important role in IRIS recognition. Traditionally the Hough transform was used to identify circular objects in images, but more modern approaches have been developed utilizing heuristic optimisation methods. These are often employed in big complicated pictures when the Hough transform is difficult due to noise or insufficient computing resources. The Circle Hough Transform (CHT) is a common circle identification technique used in image processing and machine vision because of its noise tolerance. We propose ICHT, which is a modified CHT method for an efficient circle detection system for an automated biometric iris identification system in this article. MATLAB was used for the software implementation and validation.
