Abstract

Information security is one of the important issue while sharing information on Internet. Whenever we are sharing or transferring data online, it is very important that the data should be secure from intruder. There are many ways that can help to transfer data securely from sender to receiver. One of the popular technique is steganography which means “covered writing.” It is data hiding technique that writes hidden messages in such a way that no one apart from sender and receiver suspect the existence of the hidden message. The attacker is unaware of these hidden message. Steganography is categorized into different types on the basis of carrier file being used for embedding data. In this paper, we use audio file as a carrier. Embedding data into audio file is more challenging job than embedding data into image because Human Auditory System (HAS) is more sensitive that Human Visual System (HVS) [4]. Audio Steganography is also categorized into various types. Out of these, we choose “Phase Encoding” audio steganography technique for implementation using MATLAB. We measure the robustness, imperceptibility and capacity of stego file.
