ATTITUDE OF HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS TOWARDS TAMIL AND ACHEIVEMENT IN TAMIL SUBJECT

Abstract

A study was attempted to investigate the Attitude of Higher Secondary students towards Tamil and their achievement in Tamil subject. And also decided to find out the difference in the attitude towards Tamil based on Gender, Type of School management and Locality of the school. Descriptive survey method was adopted to collect the relevant information from 9th standard students. A tool to measure the attitude towards Tamil subject was prepared and standardized by the investigator. By adopting simple random sampling method, 1,190 students were selected as sample for this study, from various schools in Kanchipuram District.  The result shows that the 9th standard students of Kanchipuram district have high level of attitude towards Tamil subject. And there is a significant difference found between male and female students in the attitude towards Tamil subject. But there is no significant difference among 9th standard students based on their Residential area and Medium of Instruction
