Abstract

In today’s era of technology, customers are looking for quality products at minimum cost which enforces manufacturing industries to explore the aspects of design of remanufacturable products as a holistic strategy benefitting all stakeholders. This scenario requires Designers of Original Equipment Manufacturers to be in forefront of action from first stage of New Product Development. This study identifies 34 design factors and 10 management drivers based on comprehensive literature survey and authenticate them by expert opinion for industry use.  For the first time in literature, a framework for concurrent engineering is formulated to optimize the effect of the factors on drivers to adapt remanufacturing as a top priority goal. The validity of the model developed on an exhaustive survey in the automotive sector is established through confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modelling.
