Abstract

This paper presents the results from an experimental study by testing the model open-ended pipe piles for the partially plugged condition in Universal Foundation Retaining Test Facility (UFRTF) equipped with an electronic data acquisition facility at the Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, India. Many tests were carried for various lengths of soil plug and inner to outer diameter ratios of the foundation to study their effect on the load-carrying capacity of the pipe pile. The measured settlement data were compared with the predictions from the theoretical solution based on the American petroleum institute Approach (API), 2006, and Jeong and Ko (2016) approach.
