Abstract

This paper presents, a detailed demonstration of dual band-notched ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna design. To realize a dual notched characteristic, U-shaped and gamma-shaped symmetrical slots are incorporated on the radiating patch and ground plane respectively. The antenna consists of a compact dimension (24 × 19 mm2) with a beveled shape radiating and ground patch for UWB operation. The antenna with beveled shape together symmetric slots provides a wide operating frequency band beyond 12 GHz from 3GHz impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) with two rejected bands from (4.4 GHz-5.6GHz) and (6.7 GHz- 8.2 GHz). The prototype of the designed band-notched antenna is fabricated and characterized. The designed antenna shows a good omnidirectional pattern with good notched band characteristics.
