Abstract

The mechanical characteristics of stainless steel are comparable compared with the AISI 304 SS grade, but are somewhat decreased owing to the AISI 304 SS grade chloride condition. But interior usage like indoor products, vehicle cuts and appliances in which the environment is not a significant issue is very economical. Research on the AISI 304 SS grade welding is, however, considerably less reported. This study seeks to demonstrate its TIG adequacy and emphasises the connection between the tensile characteristics and the hardiness with the welded parameters so that weakest joints can be defined and TIG welding parameters can be properly determined. The TIG weldering equipment is soldered by changing different welding settings to improve welding efficiency in Stainless Steel 304 (SS-304). Effects on soldering current, gas flow rate (CO2) and solding speed solder joint strength and tightness were studied. Optical microscopic study on the soldering area to evaluate the impact of soldering parameters on soldering efficiency was conducted. To understand the change in the mechanical characteristics of a welded area, the cross section measured the micro-hardness value of the soldered area.
