Abstract

Active front end converter (AFE) is power electronics device based rectifier circuit which converts AC into DC power with keeping power factor to unity at supply side. It also reduces harmonics of supply current. In this paper asymmetric type single-phase boost type converter is discussed. It uses H-bridge power topology with 4 IGBTs with boosting inductor. In h-bridge one half bridge is operating at power supply frequency (50 Hz) and another half bridge is operate at switching frequency. Single-phase AFE topology and control scheme is simulated in PSIM software with different load conditions and with different modulation index. Simulated results are represented and discussed in this paper.
