Regional Development Strategy Based on Superior Commodities in Gowa Regency
Abstract
The leading sector that most contributes to the GRDP of Gowa Regency is agriculture. However, although its contribution is always the largest, this sector continues to decrease every year. Therefore, further development is needed to increase the role of agriculture, especially in the food crops and horticulture sub-sector which take the most contributes to the agricultural sector. The aims of this study are (1) to determine the food crops and horticulture sub-sector commodities that are superior and have the potential to be developed in Gowa Regency, (2) determine the location of the development, and (3) formulate a regional development strategy to support regional development in Gowa Regency. The analytical method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The analytical tools used to determine the superior commodities are determining the base commodity first with Location Question (LQ) analysis, measuring proportional growth, regional growth, and commodity progressivity with Shift Share Analysis (SSA), and determining the order of leading commodities with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results obtained are that the main commodities of the food crops and horticulture sub-sector in Gowa Regency are potatoes, corn, carrots, chrysanthemums, mangoes, laos/galangal, cabbage, and papaya.
