ANDROID-BASED NUTRITIONAL EDUCATION MEDIA DESIGN TO IMPROVE MOTHER'S KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE IN OVERCOMING STUNTING

Abstract

The incidence of stunting under five is a major nutritional problem faced by developing country, including Indonesia. This study aimed to develop and analyze theknowledge and attitudes of children under five mothersin overcoming stunting. This study used two methods, Research and Development (R&D) Design with a Borg and Gall development model and a Quasi-Experimental Design withpre-and post-test group design. The purposive sampling applied to determine a total sample of 46 children under five mothers. Two media experts, two material experts, and ten mothers of stunting toddlers were involved as participants in this study which carried out in two health centres in Buton District, Kapuntori Health Center and the Barangka Health Center.The application effectiveness was measured before and after treatment of an Android-based stunting education application with an interval of one month. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon test statistical analysis. The study showed that the validation test of stunting education applications for children under five mothers was considered feasible and showed an increase in knowledge with an average pre-test value of 42%, increasing to 87% and increasing attitudes with an average pre-test value of 42%. Furthermore, 45% increased to 88% after the application with Mc test results, with Wilcoxon p-value 0.000 < 0.05. This proves that the stunting education application developed effectively improves the knowledge and attitudes of mothers under five in overcoming stunting problems. Therefore, this application is expected to add insight for mothers in increasing knowledge that can change parenting in children.
