Abstract

This developmental-descriptive research aimed to develop a Hazardous Gas Detection, Warning, and Response Device with Mobile Application. It contained the following technical features: location identification and multiple sensors utilization, multi-level warning mechanism, and wireless control and monitoring. It also aimed to test its quality in terms of functional suitability, compatibility, usability, reliability, security, maintainability, portability, and performance efficiency; and to develop a user's manual. The respondents of the study consisted of three electronics engineers, seven chemical engineers, ten rescuers, and ten electronics engineering students of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College – Alijis Campus. The respondents of the reliability test were ten graduating chemical and ten electronics engineering students of STI – West Negros University. The study utilized a modified research instrument anchored on the ISO/IEC 25010:2011 Product Quality Model, which recorded a validity rating of 4.78 and a reliability rating of 0.85, making it valid and reliable. Results revealed that the prototype possesses all the technical features. Reliability was the weakest attribute of the prototype. Nevertheless, the prototype still embodied all the dimensions of quality when the evaluation from the respondents was taken collectively, and the evaluation of the dimensions of quality when grouped according to the classification of the respondents.
